Course Agenda
Course Agenda for the Pre-Plone-Conference Plone training on skinning.
This course will cover:
- easy tips for spotting how well a site will integrate with Plone
- hints on how to scope a skinning project
- fast, quick appearance changes for Plone sites (changing logos, colors, etc.)
- an introduction to CSS (cascading style sheets, the technology used to stylize a Plone site)
- use of the Web Developer Extensions and Firebug, browser add-ons that make understanding and testing CSS a snap
- the techniques used to stylize a Plone site, giving you complete control while providing easy upgrades between versions
- demonstrations of existing Plone sites, and how they were skinned
- useful built-in CSS styles in Plone that you can (& should!) re-use in your sites
- helping your content managers create content that "looks like" your site
- hands-on work to complete Plone skins during class
No
CSS experience is required; however, reading a quick online guide to
CSS will greatly benefit most students. Basic understanding of web
design and HTML is required. Image files for a sample Plone site will be provided to aid in the creation of a skin during class.
