Hello, everyone!
It's been a busy summer of courses, and now we're getting ready for the
Plone Conference. I hope to see many of you there.
THEMING YOUR PLONE 3 SITE
Oct 6 -7, $300
Offered in the two days before the conference in DC.
Learn how to design and build a theme for your Plone 3 site, using
proven tips and best practices. Covers the core skills of Plone theming
all the way through custom viewlets, portlets, and KSS. A friendly and
comprehensive hands-on course for both web designers and site
integrators.
POST-CONFERENCE SPRINT
And, for the first time, I'll be offering a FREE sprint after the
conference. Jon Stahl (an excellent friend, fellow Board Member,
and host of the Seattle Plone conference) and I are creating a sprint
specifically intended for "new to sprinting" people. We want to
give you a chance to learn new things about developing/theming Plone,
to learn how sprints work, and how to work effectively on Plone.
So, we're planning "The Beginner Sprint". This will be *after* the
conference, on Oct 11 and 12.
From the info page at
http://www.openplans.org/projects/plone-conference-2008-dc/beginners
:
The goal of this sprint is to learn about developing things in Plone,
and to learn about how to sprint successfully.
We'll take a straightforward task--we're leaning toward "How to add
dynamic visual effects and better UI ("KSS") to PloneHelpCenter" as our
topic. This will help make the documentation faster, prettier, and more
easily navigated. We'll teach you KSS (a great skill for site builders
and developers, and one that doesn't require any JavaScript
experience!). We'll teach you how to work in teams ("pair programming").
We'll teach you how to check in your changes to the "collective". And
we'll teach you how to have fun while helping out our project with a
critical task!
This is really aimed at *everyone*, both beginners and experienced site
builders.
