Hi, everyone! I hope you're having a great summer.
This is a reminder of the upcoming NC Plone classes, and an announcement about
the pre-conference classes.
PLONE BOOTCAMP - North Carolina, Jul 30-Aug 3, $350
This is the classic, week-long course on "How to build a great site in Plone".
It's aimed at web designers, programmers, and business types. No Python
experience is required, though a working knowledge of HTML is. There are still
seats left for this class, offered at the beautiful campus of UNC, Chapel
Hill. http://plonebootcamps.com/courses/unc3
ADVANCED PLONE BOOTCAMP - North Carolina, Aug 6-9, $400
A four-day advanced class, intended for people who've taken the core bootcamp
or have a similiar (>1 year) experience with Plone. This course covers best
practices for developing quickly, testing, and deploying larger, more complex
sites. There are still seats left for this class, too:

INTRO TO PLONE - North Carolina, Aug 10, $50
You're probably not going to fly to NC for a one day class, sure. But if
you're in the area, and would like a one-day gentle introduction to what
Plone can do, what to expect when building a site, etc., this is the class
for that. Excellent for your managers, coworkers, etc.
PLONE CONFERENCE
The Plone conference this year is in Naples, Italy -- a beautiful, affordable
(really!) place with great food. I *strongly* suggest you make plans to come.
The evaluation from last years conference showed how highly most people rated
the conference.
I think the conference is so critical to the success you'll have with Plone
that I've chosen to become, for the second year, a Gold Sponsor of the
conference. I hope to see you there!

PRE-CONFERENCE COURSES
Pre-conference courses (all are Oct 8-9, and are $200)
USING PLONE - Naples -Oct 8-9, ONLY $200 - Darci Hanning
A two day, hands-on class on using Plone to build straightforward sites,
and "lessons learned" about site building. Taught by Darci Hanning
("darcilicious" or "geeklibrarian" in #plone), the brilliant dervish behind
the Plinkit project (building dozens of Plone sites for small libraries,
http://www.plinkit.org). This course will
be excellent for managers,
integrators, and people new to Plone. You'll learn what Plone can do, how to
use it, and what to do (& more importantly, *not do*!) when building a
site.

SKINNING PLONE - Naples - Oct 8-9, ONLY $200 - Veda Williams
A two day, hands-on course about theming Plone to look like you want it to.
Covering similar material to my course on this last year, this course is
aimed for web designers, managers, and integrators. No Plone experience is
required, but HTML and some CSS are. This course is taught by Veda Williams
("vedawms" in #plone), a rock star Plone skinner and project manager with
those Plone gurus at ONE/NW. She'll also be showing off case studies and
lessons-learned from the many sites she's skinned.

PLONE 3 TECHNIQUES - Naples - Oct 8-9, ONLY $200 - Joel Burton
A two-day, hands-on course about the new technologies in Plone 3 of interest
to integrators. Like the original Plone bootcamp, this doesn't try to teach
you every nut and bolt in the toolbox--instead, it focuses on the core stuff
that you'll want to use, today, for migrating or building new sites for Plone
3. I'll be covering viewlets, the new portlet system, and an introduction to
the Zope 3 technologies. Taught by Joel Burton (hello!), the roving force
behind the Plone Bootcamp. http://plonebootcamps.com/courses/conf2-plone3
ZOPE 3 TRAINING
In addition, Rocky ("rocky" in #plone) of Jazkarta will be offering a 2-day,
pre-conference class on developing with Zope 3. It's a good deal more
expensive--$1295--but for people looking for a 100%-developer-oriented course
on the Zope 3 server, this may be excellent. You can read all about it at
http://www.jazkarta.com/services/zope-3-training-naples/
UPCOMING COURSES:
I plan several more classes in 2007 and early 2008; likely, these will be:
- a bootcamp in San Francisco
- an advanced class in Seattle
- a bootcamp in Washington, DC
- a bootcamp in Portland, Oregon
I have less firm plans for courses in Europe and in India. Interested? Please
let me know!
Thanks, and have a great, Plone-filled summer!
Best,
- j.
